What Does It Do?
CMU-HE is used to monitor the hardness concentration of the soft water after it goes through a softener. In other words, it monitors the softener’s outlet water’s hardness.
If the hardness concentration is outside of set limits and retries, it will alarm. This gives the end user an immediate notice which gives them time to correct before scaling occurs. If connected to an MW-U, the CMU-HE can send a signal to switch tanks and regenerate the previously operating resin tank from which the CMU-H detected hardness. The unit measures between 0–5 ppm of hardness.

Features
The CMU-HE offers a range of output and timing features designed to enhance monitoring accuracy, signal communication, and maintenance awareness. Below are key functions that support reliable operation and integration with external systems:
CMU-HE Feature | Description |
| Concentration Alarm Output | The CMU-HE can output a hardness leakage alarms signal to another device. |
| Concentration Analogue Output | The CMU-HE can output the hardness concentration via a 4-20 mA analog signal. |
| Reagent Cartridge Replacement Output | The CMU-HE can output a signal about the necessity to replace the cartridge. |
| Remote Alarm | The CMU-HE can output a general alarm signal when any alarm occurs. |
| Concentration Valid Time | A setting that checks to confirm that monitoring is properly occurring when using the [Concentration Analogue Output]. |
| Concentration Output Correction | A function that adjusts the analogue signal output when necessary. |
| Blank Waiting Time | An amount of time to delay the testing procedure to prevent potential disturbances in the monitoring. |

CMU-HE can receive a Remote Signal which allows for EXTERNAL CONTROL of the CMU's operation.
- This allows for flexibility and control of monitoring schedules based on surrounding parameters.
- Ex: The remote signal input can be used to PROHIBIT MONITORING while the water softener is regenerating.
CMU-HE generally operates based on the settable [START TIME] & [STOP TIME] settings.
- The CMU-HE will only perform monitoring during a specific time range.
- The CMU can be set to operate all day long (24 hours).
Wiring & Networking
The CMU-HE wiring and networking is illustrated in the wiring diagrams below.

Routine Maintenance
The table below outlines routine maintenance checks and frequencies.
| Routine Maintenance | Frequency |
| Soft Water Check | Daily |
| Reagent Cartridge Replacement | As Necessary |
| Filter Replacement | Every 1 year |
Product Specifications

Like most water testing applications, the CMU-HE has certain water conditions that must be met to ensure accuracy of monitoring results. Please see the table and notes below.
